Tuesday morning minutaie
NS March 10th, 2009

I never knew before yesterday why the Brits call rainbow sprinkles (the kind you put on cakes or ice cream) “hundreds and thousands.” After TNC got hold of a mostly-full container and dumped them all over the dining room table where they pinged off into every corner and crevice of the room, I understand that the reference is literal; there are hundreds and thousands of those little buggers.

Is it evil that I want to invite a boy in TNC’s pre-school class to her birthday party solely because he is even more hyper and acts up even more frequently than she does? I’m hoping it will make her look like an angel in comparison.

I am done with shaving. I haven’t shaved my legs in four or five weeks and am fascinated with the results. I’d love to be confident enough to go au naturel in the summer, even while wearing skirts, but I’m just not there yet. So I’m going to get my legs waxed tomorrow for the first time, to see what I think of it. I’m such a bad feminist.

TNC has grown up so much recently. She’s out of nappies now (yay!) and on Sunday we moved her into a big girl bed and schlepped everything around so that she could have the bigger bedroom (what used to be the spare room/office). Her hair is over her shoulders and she’s grown out of most of her clothes recently. I can actually have a conversation with her and she is developing a sense of humour, which really helps us defuse those moments when we’re having a battle of wills. One tiny smirk sends us both into fits of giggles and we soon forget what we were arguing about. She’s still a stubborn toddler, believe you me, but we’re making real progress. My baby is becoming a proper little girl! Sniff. Now if I could just get her to stop running away from me in public and shouting “You’re smelly!” from the backseat of the car…
