Good for her! It heartens me hugely to see people like Ellen, behaving like this - ie with dignity, intelligence and humour on US TV. Also addressing and espousing a non MOTR issue which could offend some viewers - more kudos!

Please don't take this the wrong way - sorry but a lot of my US mates, here, take it as a slight that I'd prefer to live in the UK (where I grew up) to the US so I'm a bit cautious about saying anything about it that isn't 100% pure praise - but sometimes US TV comes over as quite conservative in both its world and alternative perspective.

Cheers

i'm really enjoying how ellen is starting to speak openly about important issues in society today. i am glad that she had the courage and bravery to ask such an important question. i don't understand how in 2008 we can still neglect individuals the same rights as their neighbors. it's disgusting.

thanks for sharing the clip. it's the first outlet i've had in 2 weeks to the outside world! (except for hillary's big win in PR!)

i thought she made a great point in comparing gay marriage to race issues and women's voting rights. those exclusions seemed to be the norm once, too, and now thankfully we have moved past that. let's just hope we eventually see that tide turn toward legalizing gay marriage and other issues, as well.

Good on Ellen. McCain's attitude, and that of his base, continues to boggle my mind.

What becomes of a society that mandates exclusion? I'm afraid to ask.
