Three’s a bitch

NS December 31st, 2007

1: boiler still fubared

2: toilet clogged

3: door to living room fell off its hinges

The joys of owning a home that starts to fall apart right at Christmas when we have the least money — priceless.

i hear you hun, had the same sort of probs, will british gas not put you back on a monthly thing? at least then you dont have to pay a lump sum or is it completely knackered? run something large into it and claim accidental damage on your house insurance! (not tried and tested). toilet, this is a constant problem in our house coz there is a stretchy pipe that goes to the waste pipe, i found a plunger with added suction (from Wilkinsons) and a long wire thing (from B&Q- drain unblocker) worked although it took some time. any DIY shop also have this thing but it was more expensive, and its attached to a compressed gas cylinder, something plumber, i forget, but that might get it moving.

door – grr use a wider screw if possible, if not longer one.

hope that helps. if not *hugs* and go round to inlaws to drink a LOT and then use their loo!

All the best for the new year.

    resolutions?

Thanks for the tips Nikki. I need to get one of those bendy pipe things just don’t have a car to get to a B&Q. The local hardware store is kind of useless, I bought an iron there the other day that had an Eastern European plug and can’t be used. WTF?

Thank god for father-in-laws, he fixed our loo and the door. A good plunger and longer screws did the trick. Boiler guy came yesterday and said it needs a bit replaced (can’t remember what it’s called now) and all together will cost us just under £200. Not too terribly bad in the scheme of things but annoying right after Christmas. Will take a few days for the part to come in so another week with intermittently lukewarm and cold water. I will never fail to appreciate a hot bath ever again.
