Mommy’s medicine

NS October 5th, 2007

This isn’t going to make much sense because I’m on drugs. No, not that kind of drugs (I wish!) but the over-the-counter Beecham’s Flu Plus kind. Much less exciting.

I thought I’d jazz it up by cracking open a bottle of white to wash down the flu tablets though, so the night could get much better or much worse, depending on the chemical reaction and whether my nose will stop being so stuffy that it feels as if I inhaled concrete while it was still in its liquid form and now it is drying and expanding into all the spaces in my head. And my nose is clicking when I breathe. That can’t be normal, can it? Fuck it, I don’t care.

Jen, if you’re reading this, you can cancel dinner tomorrow night if you want. Not because I have this goddamn cold but because I don’t want you to get it. Unless you’ve just been dying to check out the latest line of balsam tissues and/or want a day off work. But don’t they say that contagion is highest before you even have the symptoms? Or am I talking out of my ass again? Either way, it’s up to you whether you want to risk coming over tomorrow. Email me. Jesus, how rude of me to post a message to you on my blog. Sorry. It’s the drug/wine combo talking.

Oh, and yesterday? I laughed when The Noble Child ran into a full-length mirror in a shoe store and fell down. My friend who was with me thought that I should’ve been more sympathetic towards my only child and not laughed, but DAMN it was funny! Have you ever seen a toddler look at their reflection in a mirror and then try to hug it, like it was another kid, and get that smooshed look on their face when all they get is a cold slap across the face from Mr Mirror? It’s really funny! Plus, she’s too young to remember and she wasn’t hurt. Isn’t that all that matters?

Back to my medicine.
